- Progressive disclosure is applied to show the most important facts first.
- Tables make side by side comparison of IoT devices easy.
- Vector graphics ensure the illustrations remain sharp at any zoom level.
- Semantic markup improves accessibility and ensures the interface can be perceived by screen-readers.
- Concise visualizations distill large data-sets into a small picture, making it easy to see the big picture!
Walkthrough
The interface is divided into several sections, each of them provides specific information about the way an IoT device collects and handles your data.
Overview
- The overview tab summarizes the data collection practices. When multiple IoT devices are compared, they are shown side by side; optionally - the differences between them can be highlighted.
Who gets the data?
- View a table that shows which type of data goes to which company, and for what purpose. Search and sorting makes it easier to process a large amount of information.
Data flows
- A visual representation of the table from the previous tab. We use Sankey diagrams to summarize all the data flows in one picture, making outliers stand out.
Data sample
- Actual samples of data collected by each device. Which of the customer numbers is more privacy-preserving?.
Security
- Summary of security-related information, expressed in simple terms. Additional technical details are available as well.
Lifecycle
- Summarize IoT device attributes around the phases of their lifecycle: set up, use, maintenance, and retiring.
- Group contact details based on the action that prompted the need for contact: view, edit or delete data, report a privacy issue to the DPO (data protection officer), or lodge a complaint with the DPA (data protection authority).
